We present theoretical foundations for the quantum tomography of polarization states of light fields as a method for measuring
their polarization density operator
, which characterizes only the polarization degrees of freedom of the radiation. We mainly attend to the method in which the
tomographic observables (the
“measurement instruments”) are polarizable in nature. We show that the quantum nature of this method can be adequately expressed
using the quasispectral tomographic decompositions of
in special operator bases, which are finite sums of partially orthogonal projection operators determining the probability
distributions of tomographic observables as the decomposition coefficients. We obtain the matrix versions of such “tomographic”
representations of
, in particular, by projecting them on semiclassical operator bases determining the polarization quasiprobability functions.
We briefly discuss the information aspects of the schemes considered in the paper.

A property of a system is called actual, if the observation of the outcome of the test that pertains to that property yields
an affirmation with certainty. We formalize the act of observation by assuming the outcome itself is an actual property of
the state of the observer after the act of observation and correlates with the state of the system. For an actual property
this correlation needs to be perfect. A property is called classical if either the property or its negation is actual. We
show by a diagonal argument that there exist classical properties of an observer that he cannot observe perfectly. Because
states are identified with the collection of properties that are actual for that state, it follows no observer can perfectly
observe his own state. Implications for the quantum measurement problem are briefly discussed.

This paper covers the absolute spectral power responsivity calibration of spectralon-coated Integrating Sphere Radiometer (ISR) equipped with 3 mm diameter InGaAs photodiode to be used as a transfer standard in fiber optic power measurements against Electrical Substitution Cryogenic Radiometer (ESCR) in Optics Laboratory of National Metrology Institute (TUBITAK UME) of Turkey. The initial uncertainty arising from the use of the Electrically Calibrated Pyroelectric Radiometer (ECPR) as a transfer standard in radiometric scale is 0.5% (k=2), which particularly comes from irregularity in the surface homogeneity of ECPR. In order to eliminate the ECPR step as well as its initial uncertainty contribution in fiber optic power measurements, the calibration application herein was carried out. Moreover power stabilization measurements of DFB laser sources at both 1309.1 nm and 1549.0 nm, the beam size determinations, and spectral analyses of these laser sources as well as spatial and angular dependence of spectral responsivities of the ISR were presented in this paper. The total expanded uncertainties were calculated as 0.283% and 0.315% in the determination of absolute spectral power responsivities of the ISR for 1309.1 nm and 1549.0 nm wavelengths respectively (k=2). 相似文献

We present an approach to faithfully teleport an unknown quantum state of entangled particles in a multi-particle system involving multi spatially remote agents via probabilistic channels. In our scheme, the integrity of an entangled multi-particle state can be maintained even when the construction of a faithful channel fails. Furthermore, in a quantum teleportation network, there are generally multi spatially remote agents which play the role of relay nodes between a sender and a distant receiver. Hence, we propose two schemes for directly and indirectly constructing a faithful channel between the sender and the distant receiver with the assistance of relay agents, respectively. Our results show that the required auxiliary particle resources, local operations and classical communications are considerably reduced for the present purpose. 相似文献
